The history of the CTSA Imaging Working Group

On November 27, 2007, a two-hour session on collaboration in imaging among CTSA sites was held at the RSNA annual meeting. As the result of the enthusiastic response to the concept of team science in imaging among CTSA sites, members of the RSNA and the Imaging Core of the Duke Translational Medicine Institute approached the NCRR about the possibility of forming the CTSA Imaging Working Group. The NCRR was supportive and the CTSA Imaging Working Group was formed.

The first Imaging Working Group conference call was held on February 12, 2008. Conference calls of the CTSA IWG are now held regularly every other month.

The CTSA Imaging Working Group also holds face-to-face meetings and meets annually at the RSNA annual meeting for a working session.

In 2009, a CTSA IWG Steering Committee was formed.

Call summaries of the IWG and the Steering Committee provide information on the groups' discussions.

CTSA IWG SubGroups
The CTSA Imaging Working Group members are uniquely positioned to work together to address important questions or topics in clinical and research imaging. As a result of input provided by Imaging Working Group members from many CTSA sites, topic-specific subgroups have been formed. The subgroups meet by conference call and function independently to focus on specific questions of broad interest.
