About the CTSA Imaging Working Group

Drawing from experience of the NIH Roadmap for Medical Research and extensive community input, the Clinical and Translational Science Awards  (CTSA) program creates an academic home for the discipline of clinical and translational science at institutions across the country.

A national consortium of medical research institutions, funded through Clinical and Translational Science Awards, is working together to improve the way biomedical research is conducted nationwide. The consortium's Web site, CTSAweb.org, ensures broad access to CTSA resources, enhances communication and encourages information sharing.

A major goal of the CTSA initiative is to develop a national consortium of CTSA institutions that will work together to transform the discipline of clinical and translational research across the country.  This union fosters the exchange of ideas with the goal of creating an environment in which treatments progress from ideas to therapies in a highly expedited fashion.

CTSA Imaging Working Group

Clinical and Research Imaging is an important component of many of the CTSA programs.  The NCRR endorsed the formation of a consortium of imaging leaders who are dedicated to sharing ideas, visions, technologies and are committed to working together to enhance the utility of imaging in translational research.  The CTSA Imaging Working Group is a forum for the open interaction of imaging experts to facilitate the CTSA goals with respect to imaging. Finally, the highly collaborative nature and intent of this program creates tremendous opportunities for a diverse set of subject matter experts to unify to address complex and important issues in clinical or research imaging.

All CTSA and planning grant institutions are encouraged to have their representatives participate actively in the CTSA Imaging Working Group, which conducts bi-monthly conference calls. For more information about participation, contact ctsaiwg@rsna.org

The CTSA Imaging Working Group Subgroups - Solutions through collaboration

The CTSA Imaging Working Group members are uniquely positioned to work together to address important questions or topics in clinical and research imaging.  As a result of input provided by many Imaging Working Group members from many CTSA sites,  topically-specific subgroups have been formed.  The subgroups meet by conference call monthly and function independently to focus on specific questions of broad interest.

The work of the CTSA Imaging Working Group and subgroups is posted on a general CTSA Imaging Working Group wiki and a wiki devoted to UPICT.

The active subgroups are:

1.      Education in Imaging

2.      Imaging Informatics

3.      Development and Management of Imaging Core Resources and Services

4.      Imaging in Clinical Trials/UPICT
